Dear Blogspot
There's no easy way to say this. Do you recall that night when I was out surfing around the world wide web? I'm afraid I've found someone better looking and well-connected than you. It's not you, it's me. Oh wait, maybe it's you :p. We had a good run together, thanks for always being there for me.... Friends?
I'll be at http://smilili.tumblr.com :)
Love,
Lili Smi

What's in may be out
The Age about an interviewed lawyer who claimed he would never be caught dead in a football jersey, or anything sporty when he's not doing sports. It's all about perceptions baby.

Think Global, Act Local
Today marks the last ever lecture (Globalisation) of my undergraduate degree, which is like saying goodbye to a friend. Yes, I am that nerdy, I actually enjoy lectures very much. To be honest, I enjoyed my final year subjects a lot and I think it’s because I’m more committed this year in understanding the contents of my subjects and I made more effort to think about how I can use that information to improve my life. So it is really like getting to know a friend, don’t be too quick to jump into conclusion about anything or anyone you know, take the time to get to know them and you will find everyone/everything in life is a learning process. Even at the today’s final lecture, I was still learning something new. The lecturer showed one of the student’s work for our “blogging assignment” and the student actually recorded an entire video on “The 10 Commandments of Globalisation”. It may sound cheesy and unnecessary (taking into account a cynic’s POV here) but I assure you it is not. So what I learnt, or rather…realised, is that…
I may think that I’ve done the best I can for a subject but there’s always someone out there who is trying just as hard or even harder than I am. Put in 100% (or 110% :P) in everything you do, just so that you won’t live with regrets (Of course you have to take into account the opportunity cost/trade-off required to do so)
Another reason why I feel sad that my student life is ending is because when I’m studying for my last ever undergraduate final papers, I have instances where I’m like “oh, I should have done..this and that…” and then I realize it’s already the last semester and that’s it, no more opportunity to improve or do whatever I wanted to do in uni. (I know I know, I can always do postgrad or fail (CHOI) if I want to stay in uni but that’s not the point)
As a form of consolation, I’m happy with the choices I made this year and I’m not going to focus on ‘What Ifs” and instead focus on “What’s Next” and…the beautiful weather today and the Smashmouth song playing in the background :)
Oh yes, and throughout the whole semester, I’ve been telling my friends that my Globalisation lecturer looks like Shirley Schmidt from the US series, Boston Legal.
And now, I’ve finally got the evidence to prove it! :D
P.S Thank you Lang Peng Fei for accompanying me in this subject!

sigh why do people say mean things to start conversations. Yea, it does attract the listener’s attention but it’s the WRONG kind of attention. It’s repulsive.

another crossroad of life
I'm a ball of stress right now! In fact, I'm chewing gum to release stress. You know how people have stress balls...yea, I have chewing gum. Blogging feels foreign to me right now, I've gotten used to keeping my thoughts to myself but recently, I realized the merits of blogging. It's true when people say it's like an online diary/journal (I know there's a difference but I can't remember what).
So as I was saying, my old blogs helped me A LOT when i needed help in recalling events such as my extracurricular activities. Yes, sorry folks, from now on...my blog will be filled with job search-related posts. Well, you see, after accumulating some advice regarding job application and such, one advice was to prepare responses for questions such as "When was the last time you had a conflict and how did you resolve it blablabla" and that is where your "rant post" actually becomes useful when you want to recall the vivid details and lessons learnt :)
Who would have known? It's actually useful to rant about your problems. hah! take that people who complain about people complaining!
Here's a snapshot of how my genuine feelings...."I have no idea how to apply for jobs :S"
So right now my strategy is to print out a list of the top 100 accounting firms in australia and just apply from the big 4 till the bottom. i call it top-down strategy (although I do acknowledge the time and effort limitations)
Ok some pictures to deeestresss
Red Spice Road @ McKillop’s Lane
Interesting deco, I know.
One word of recommendation for any interested parties…PORK BELLY! enough said. I’m not a big fan of meat parts which have more fats than meat but Red Spice Road is an exception and that’s how good it is!
mr. organiser! artistic shot, no?
Roule Gallette, Scott Alley (off Flinders Lane)
I’ve never associated myself as a food blogger but looks like Melbourne brings out the foodie in me so what the heck :P

Just a snapshot of Roule Gallete’s deco because I lurveee quaint cafe decos :) Oh yes pretty charis as an additional cafe deco too :P
Banana Date
B1 (Edwina): Eh you know I’ve always wanted to go eat Shanghai Dumplings again but then nobody wants to go with me.
B2 (Me): EHHHH Me too!!! Everyone say like that place damn dirty but then I like their Dan Dan Noodles!
B1 & B2 : boingggg! Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
Haha, ok to confused readers out there, Edwina is my housemate and we have came up with a term called the “banana moment” (adopted from Bananas in Pyjamas whereby B1 and B2 would wobble and ask each other “Are you thinking what I’m thinking” when they’re thinking of the same thing
Hence, our banana date to Shanghai dumpling and boy, were we stuffed. Here’s what we ordered…
1 bowl of Dan Dan Noodles and 2 plates of dumplings (haha wina, I copied and pasted the dumpling pic)
the happy bananas
spot the green bird! i mean c’mon, how often do you see a green bird in Melbourne?
Sushi Burger, Exhibition St/Bourke St
and I’ve finally tried a “sushi burger” *checks list*
Very flavourful, especially the seaweed, which tastes like the seaweed we used to eat as snacks as kids.
toodles people.

Collage of Spring Break 2010
Here’s a small collage of what I did during my spring break :)
1. Paintball
on the train to Huntingdale for paintball. look how isolated we are with our iPads iPhones. iStuffs are so antisocial!
Plumbers Unite!
Mario & Luigi?
hahaha hilarious. we should borrow their costumes for halloween.
2. Crepes @ Fraus
Cameral Banana Crepes. Liked it, not too sweet, just the way I like it.
pretty hannah with her E.B.C (Eggs Bacon Crepes). yummy, oozed with cheese! spot the smiley face!
3. Watched the guys play StarCraft 2
Yea right I watched, I was bored out of my wits!
4. Eat, Eat, Eat
Fish & Chips, Cajun Chicken, Spare Ribs, Nachos @ Joe’s Garage
This was actually on the first weekend after Spring Break ended. Kinda like a “Belated Birthday Dinner” for Ching Ching because Edwina didn’t get to celebrate with her. One of those fun dinners filled with laughs. Ended with a nice beer session @ Muttis with ChingChing, Edwina and Lang.
5. Babysat Snoopy for 5 days

Advise me on advisory
Seated at a spacious conference room on the 23rd floor, the view through the glass windows comprised of two-thirds of the sky (that's how high up we were). I've often been told that career seminars are pretty much homogenous and once you've been to one, there's no point going to another. It is true to a certain extent, I mean similar tips were given but one must not forget that it's kinda fun to see what your future workplace might be like and that never fails to inspire me to pursue a career. Did I mention there's free food?
To be honest, I have no clue which accounting department I would like to go under...Tax? Advisory? Auditing? I mean...how does one decide with limited work experience? The only thing I have to base my judgments on is my experience with the subject in uni. I doubt that's reliable at all. And we all know that most "rational" decisions aren't actually rational at all, we're pretty much an irrational species as much as we like to think otherwise. Heck, sometimes I think I might just do "Advisory" because I'm strangely inclined to that word.
Anyway, I've decided to do what a "rational human being" would do and...marry a rich old man. I kid :D
I'm going to take a day off (after my audit assignment) and do some research. For those of you who have work experience, do enlighten this humble student here. I would appreciate avoidance of "hah...so easy lah." or "how come you don't know?".

Basically the lesson learnt today is always always double check dates. That is all :p

yo.
Sent from my Nokia phone
hello world :)
I wanted to resume my previous blog but looking back on all the entries, although they have been hand-typed (the modern word for hand written? harhar) by me, they don't sound like me anymore. That's when I realized I have indeed changed over the years, to be a better person I hope. There is no doubt that the "Melbourne experience" has a significant influence on my life.
Before I came here, I've been meaning to blog about my experience. (This is the part where I start listing excuses and also the part where I shall not refrain from listing excuses despite the acute awareness that listing excuses will do no good)
I got busy. Blogging took the backseat. And I rather do other stuff than blog. Once in awhile, I'll encounter something nice, experience something painful, that I wish I had a blog to rant on. Yes, there are diaries but often bloggers have the need to tell someone their life's events without being too in-your-face. It's like "if you wanna know the details of my life, feel free to drop by. If not, I will satisfy my need to tell someone an exciting event which they might feel otherwise."
Bloggers have the need to share their life's experiences to those who made the effort to find out (by dropping by sometimes *hinthint*)
Thus ends this first post.
